Three generations.
One kitchen.
It started with abuela Elena and a beat-up comal in her Flour Bluff backyard, feeding the neighborhood every Sunday. When she passed in 2008, her daughter Marisol promised to keep the table set — and a year later, Casa Del Mar opened its doors on Ocean Drive.
Today the kitchen is run by Elena's grandkids — Daniel handles the dining room, Sofia the bar, and chef Mateo (her great-grandson) keeps the recipes intact. The shrimp comes off boats we know by name. The masa is ground every morning. And Sundays still feel a little like grandma's backyard.
